Automation of External Data Importing Process

Western Power has a large number of external datasets to manage, and had an equally large number of manually executed, disparate FME Desktop workbenches to maintain the data. A project was undertaken to standardise and automate as much as possible through FME Server. However, the real world isn’t always quite that simple and compromises need to be made along the way. Automation has enabled us to detect changes ahead of updates, automatically update our data, and provide self-service dashboards to data stakeholders. Through automation we have improved data timeliness, simplified onboarding of new staff, and proactively manage change.
