2023 Peak of Data Integration Conference 2023 Peak of Data Integration Conference

The 2025 Peak of Data & AI conference will see the largest gathering of FME users from around the world, with a target of over 1000 attendees! From May 6-8th, industry leaders and professionals will gather in Seattle, Washington to participate in an action-packed week of expert-led workshops, inspiring keynotes and hands-on sessions, all while building stronger connections with fellow members of the FME community through networking and social events.

The 2023 Peak of Data Integration conference, held in Bonn, Germany, saw a record number of attendees, all eager to improve their skillset and knowledge of the FME product. This year, we have seen over 150 submissions for presentations by partners and users of FME alike, ranging in topics, proficiency level, and industry specialism. From AEC and Local Government use cases, to talks exploring the deployment of AI agents and emerging technologies, the conference will showcase the power of data integration and utilization of AI to help achieve business goals.

This blog aims to highlight five must-see presentations at the conference in May, delivering unique perspectives on how FME can empower data-driven solutions, all while introducing you to a growing community of over 200,000 users worldwide!

1. The Growing Value and Application of FME & GenAI

Oliver Morris, Avineon-Tensing

Avineon Tensing Peak 2023

With generative AI becoming more present than ever in organizations, you won’t want to miss this presentation highlighting the importance of integrating Generative AI tools into FME workflows. Oliver will explore how you can transform data workflows by automating data extraction, validation, classification and augmentation tasks. He will discuss how FME’s no-code flexibility enables users to combine Generative AI and Computer Vision tools to create efficient workflows that are tailored to specific challenges; and, provide examples demonstrating how these integrations can simplify complex tasks and enhance data quality.

Are you curious to learn more about marrying AI and FME? Tensing will be leading a workshop on the subject during the pre-conference training workshops at the Peak, taking place Tuesday, May 6th.

Also, don’t miss out on the upcoming webinar with Tensing and Google, where we will discuss All-data, Any-AI integrations!

2. Live Data Integration & the Development of SFO’s Operational Digital Twin

Aric Lang, San Francisco International Airport

San Francisco Airport Planes

As one of our valued customers in the aviation industry, San Francisco Airport (SFO) has witnessed tremendous success in using FME Form and Flow to streamline its day-to-day operations.

The team at SFO maintains a robust digital twin of their campus infrastructure in GIS, including indoor, outdoor, and subsurface infrastructure, which is used by stakeholders throughout the organization in the airport’s day-to-day operations. With the creation of a new Airport Integrated Operations Center, they have seen a rapidly growing demand for the ability to visualize various types of operational information on their existing data.

SFO’s presentation at this year’s Peak of Data & AI conference details how FME Form and Flow are being used to consume data from various non-spatial APIs, such as real-time aircraft information, checkpoint wait time and status, parking status, and integrate it with the existing infrastructure data maintained in GIS. This provides a real-time, web-enabled view of operations, used to empower and inform decision-makers, and to provide the best guest experience possible.

Don’t miss out on this exciting use case session on digital twin integrations by SFO!

3. Addressing End-to-End Automation Using FME

Bruno Blanco, Shelby County 9-1-1

Shelby County 911 Officer on duty

Safe Software works closely with a wide range of agencies for local, state and provincial governments. As one of our valued customers in the local government sector, Shelby County 9-1-1, based in Tennessee, will deliver a session at the Peak of Data & AI discussing how FME can help to deliver the next generation of emergency addressing data maintenance, including points and road centerlines. In the session, participants will learn how FME has helped Shelby County 9-1-1 automate the addressing process, including assigning attributes from disparate sources, on-the-fly QAQC of data, and subsequent reporting.

Bruno will also discuss some of the varied ways the Shelby County 9-1-1 team has deployed FME, including using attributes and geometry, looping in custom transformers, working with lists and change detection.

4. Boosting Efficiency with Automated Asset Management

Tim Shomberg, POWER Engineers Inc.

Power line engineers

As one of Safe’s longstanding partners, POWER Engineers Inc specializes in engineering and environmental solutions across energy, facilities, communications, and federal markets. The team at POWER utilize FME to boost their operational efficiency, allowing them to focus on innovation rather than maintenance.

At this year’s Peak of Data & AI conference, POWER Engineers Inc will deliver a session delving into their collaboration project with the White House Utility District (WHUD). The project’s aim was to enhance their asset management by automating workflows using FME. The session will demonstrate how WHUD integrated FME with Survey123, Cityworks and ArcGIS online to improve efficiency. The results of these integrations included better error handling, reduced manual tasks, and more streamlined GIS operations, thereby enhancing service quality.

This talk is a must-attend for anyone in the Utilities sector hoping to adopt FME for operational improvements in efficiency and data-driven decision-making. Find out more about this exciting partnership between Safe and POWER today!

5. Leveraging FME for Community Resilience

Tara Preston & Scott Story, Headwaters Economics

Headwaters Economics, a non-profit research organization, is using FME to drive positive change in communities across the U.S. By leveraging FME, they help address critical challenges such as wildfire risk, flood vulnerability, and economic transitions in rural and underserved areas. In their presentation, Headwaters Economics will showcase how FME has streamlined data acquisition, processing, and visualization to support community leaders in making informed data-driven decisions.

The session will highlight specific projects like Wildfire Risk to Communities, a free and interactive tool that helps communities assess and reduce their wildfire risk, and Neighborhoods-at-Risk, which assists in understanding vulnerabilities of climate change. Additionally, the Rural Capacity Index measures a community’s ability to manage infrastructure and development projects. Through these examples, Tara and Scott will demonstrate how FME empowers local leaders to tackle complex challenges, create more resilient communities, and foster sustainable growth.

Don’t miss out on this inspiring and continually relevant FME-for-good story with the team at Headwaters!
